Freddie Mercury gave two Japanese kimonos to Thierry Amsallem and Claude Nobs, without saying which was for whom: the white one is shown here at the Montreux Jazz Café, at the heart of the Fairmont Le Montreux Palace; the black one is kept at the Le Picotin chalet, in Caux. Cranes, pines and waves are finely embroidered on the silk.
