Opened in 1897, the Musée Jenisch is Vevey’s fine arts museum: specialising in works on paper, it houses the Cabinet cantonal des estampes and the Oskar Kokoschka Foundation. Its place in the Riviera’s musical landscape rests on ART&SONS, run with the Montreux Jazz Artists Foundation: in front of certain works, a QR code plays on the visitor’s phone a piece composed for it. In front of a Picasso, for instance, the code plays “Alice in the Sky”, ten minutes by the Zurich trio Rusconi with the guitarist Fred Frith. The series are also gathered in playlists on Spotify. The dialogues are devised by Stéphanie-Aloysia Moretti, art historian and artistic director of the foundation, to whom the museum gave carte blanche; the permanent-collection trail, twenty-seven tracks written by contemporary Swiss musicians, was inaugurated on 30 April 2021, UNESCO’s International Jazz Day. Further series have followed with the exhibitions, and concerts are given in the galleries, among the paintings: the Byron Quartet among the Kokoschkas, the Valais singer Marc Aymon before a packed room, or recitals from the Vevey Spring Classic. It was also here that, in 2019, the collection of Pierre Keller was shown — the man who turned the Montreux Jazz Festival poster into a contemporary art collection.
